Barbara Rich interviewed on BBC2’s Victoria Derbyshire programme on 27 April 2018

Barbara Rich appeared in a discussion of the case of Alfie Evans, which had dominated the headlines, and in which the legal proceedings had ended the previous day.

Although Barbara does not practise in the fields of either medical or childcare law, she is familiar with the exercise of a best interests jurisdiction in relation to incapacitated adults. She also has a particular interest in public understanding of the law, and acceptance of the rule of law, and in the consequences of transparency and publicity in these high-profile cases.

She wrote about these issues for the Transparency Project blog in connection with the similar case of Charlie Gard in 2017 and appeared on several BBC radio news programmes discussing these issues in connection with that case.
