ABOUT CHAMBERS
5 Stone Buildings is ranked highly by respected industry bodies, including the main legal directories, Chambers UK Guide and the Legal 500 and by the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners.
Chambers and Partners UK Guide 2012 ranks twenty of our members in nine separate categories (an increase of two on the number of categories in which we featured last year). These are Traditional Chancery, Pensions, Court of Protection, Offshore, Partnership, Charities, Tax: Private Client, Costs Litigation and Real Estate Litigation. Fourteen of our members are ranked in the Traditional Chancery category, many of them in Band One. Chambers as a whole is ranked in Band One for our Court of Protection and Tax work.
In relation to our Traditional Chancery work, Chambers UK describes us as follows:
"5 Stone Buildings continues to prove itself to be one of the most dynamic and prominent traditional chancery chambers around. Interviewees comment that the set "is one of the first places to think of when you need specialist knowledge when faced with knotty matters." Sporting an elite phalanx of talented barristers, solicitors can be confident that they will get some of the best minds around whether they are faced with wills, trusts, tax planning or probate problems. The set further has an excellent reputation in related Court of Protection proceedings. Sources say of it that it offers good value for money, as "members here offer good advice at an honest price."
Chambers UK also describes us as:
"clearly the top set for property and affairs cases" before the Court of Protection. Almost every member of chambers does this work to some extent, and the chief authorities in the field are housed here. Their dominance is such that even counsel at rival sets concede that "no one can argue they aren't the main players in the field."

The Legal 500 2011-12 Directory recommends chambers in seven areas, including Private client: personal tax, Private client: trusts and probate, Charities, Company and partnership, Costs, Pensions, and Property litigation (including agriculture and housing). The Legal 500 comments:
5 Stone Buildings 'remains at the forefront of private client issues', and is recommended for its experience in international and domestic trusts and succession disputes.
